Baiada Poultry plant on schedule for 2026 completion
The company says the plant will have the capacity to process up to 3 million chickens weekly and will “set a new benchmark for poultry processing in Australia.”
Baiada Poultry announced that plans to have a new broiler plant open in 2006 are progressing as scheduled.
The new plant is under construction in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia.
The company initially announced plans for the new facility nearly a year ago, and this week offered an update on LinkedIn, in which it said construction is scheduled for completion by April 2026.
“This facility will set a new benchmark for poultry processing in Australia, and be world-class in terms of the latest technology and processing techniques” the post read.
According to the company, the new facility will be able to process up to 3 million chickens per week at full capacity.
“The Tamworth site will also be best-in-class for our employees, offering modern amenities, cafeteria, an outdoor break-out area, along with a gymnasium and a people-first design that empowers our team to thrive,” the company stated.
Baiada had earlier announced that more than 700 people would be employed at the facility.
Baiada also touted the wastewater process that will be installed in the site. It will featured the ability to harvest biogas for the purpose of fueling onsite boilers, and that renewable energy initiative will meet an estimated 70% of Baiada’s natural gas requirement at the plant.
According to information from the WATTPoultry.com Top Poultry Companies Database, Baiada Poultry is the second largest poultry producer of Oceania. It slaughtered 208 million broilers during the past year. The company is also involved in turkey production.
In April, it was announced that Baiada will purchase a feed mill in South Australia from Ridley, with that acquisition expected to be completed by the end of June.
