The Veterinary Directorate of Al-Gharbia Governorate continued its inspection campaigns throughout July, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of meat, poultry, and fish that were either unfit for human consumption or displayed without documentation proving their source or freshness. This effort is part of the governorate’s initiatives to protect public health and prevent the circulation of spoiled food.
Major General Ashraf El-Gendy affirmed that the governorate’s authorities will not tolerate any violations affecting the health and safety of citizens, stressing that the inspection campaigns will continue daily and unexpectedly across various districts and cities. These efforts are conducted in full cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure markets and commercial outlets comply with health and supply regulations, in line with the state’s directives to decisively combat fraud and negligence.
Under these directives, the Veterinary Directorate of Al-Gharbia, supervised by Dr. Adel Abdel Aziz, Deputy Director, intensified its campaigns targeting outlets selling and trading animal products. These campaigns resulted in the issuance of 67 violation reports and the seizure of 4518.9 kilograms (over 4.5 tons) of spoiled or suspicious meat, poultry, fish, and meat products.
Dr. Adel Abdel Aziz, Director of the Veterinary Directorate, indicated that the campaigns were coordinated fully with slaughterhouse departments and veterinary administrations in the districts and cities. He confirmed that the directorate operates according to an integrated inspection plan that goes beyond responding to complaints by proactively monitoring markets to ensure the fitness of food products.
Al-Gharbia Governorate continues, in cooperation with all regulatory bodies, its surprise campaigns to detect violations and enhance market discipline, emphasizing the enforcement of the law on everyone without exception to safeguard public health and ensure the quality and safety of food products.
