Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture announced in a statement on Monday that Jordan and Kuwait have eased restrictions on Brazilian chicken meat imports, following a complete ban due to the outbreak of avian influenza.Brazil copy

The ministry stated that the restrictions imposed by Kuwait and Jordan now apply only to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where the case was detected, rather than to the entire country as was previously the case.
Last month, Brazil — the world’s largest poultry exporter — confirmed an outbreak of avian influenza on a commercial farm, which led to a ban on shipments to China and raised concerns about potential restrictions from other trade partners.
Brazil exported $10 billion worth of chicken meat in 2024, accounting for approximately 35% of global trade.
A significant portion of these exports comes from meat processing companies such as BRF and JBS, which export to around 150 countries.
China, Japan, South Africa, and Arab countries are among the top destinations for Brazilian chicken exports, according to local media.
