Amen alzirz3aThe Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority issued a decision regarding the collection of food and feed samples for inspection and monitoring purposes in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Director-General of the Authority directed the issuance of regulations for collecting food and feed samples and designating the specialized staff responsible for this task. This aims to regulate the procedures for collecting samples for monitoring and inspection purposes across the food and feed supply chain at all stages in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The decision comes as part of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority to govern operational procedures and update the legislative framework. It also ensures the proper application of procedures related to the collection of food and feed samples for inspection and monitoring purposes, reinforcing compliance with the laws and regulations implemented by the Authority.

The Authority aims, through organizing the sampling process for food and feed inspection, to update the relevant legislative framework, ensure the safety and quality of food and feed at all stages of the supply chain, and ensure that food and feed comply with technical regulations and standards in the country. Furthermore, it strengthens the food security system in aspects related to food safety and animal health.

His Excellency Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, affirmed that the decision would facilitate the re-analysis of food samples collected from food establishments and feed trading facilities for inspection and monitoring purposes. He pointed out that the decision is part of a plan to update and develop the legislative framework supporting the Authority’s areas of work and aligns with federal regulations issued after System No. 5 of 2010 by including feed samples within the scope of food sampling for inspection and monitoring purposes.

He explained: "This decision reflects our firm commitment to the health and safety of consumers, ensuring the provision of safe and healthy products for humans and animals, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. These regulations aim to enhance the quality and safety of food and feed products, ensuring their compliance with health and environmental standards, as well as the technical specifications and standards applied in the country. These regulations include precise guidelines and instructions for the sampling process, including the technical procedures and standards necessary to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results."

His Excellency added: "We encourage all concerned parties in food establishments and feed trading facilities to cooperate with the procedures for collecting food and feed samples and to fully comply with the specified regulations to achieve the quality and safety we aspire to. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority will continue to monitor the implementation of these regulations and work to improve them in line with developments in the food and feed industry, as well as the quality and safety standards necessary for human and animal health."
