The first day of the "Ruminant Expert Tour: The Unexpected Power of Fiber," hosted by Lallemand Animal Nutrition, took place today at the renowned Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt. This two-day symposium, focused on the pivotal role of fiber in dairy rations, kicked off with a series of insightful sessions led by global experts.

The morning began with a welcome address by Dr. Joe Agnatios Abijaoudé, Lallemand's Business Area Manager for Africa and the Middle East, who set the tone for the event by emphasizing the need for innovative approaches in ruminant nutrition.

Key sessions included:

- Bill Woodley (Woodley Dairy Direction), who introduced the essential definitions and dynamics of fiber in dairy diets.
Franck Kuechenmeister (Lallemand’s International Technical Support Manager), who delved into the agronomic influences on fiber composition.
- Dr. Mohammed Bakr (Assistant Professor, Cairo University), who provided practical tips on silage manufacturing.

- Aurélien Piron (Global Technical Manager, Lallemand), who explored the management of rumen fermentation and digestion.
The day also featured interactive workshops and poster sessions, allowing participants to engage deeply with practical applications of fiber in silage and rumen health. A visit to the historic Bibliotheca Alexandrina added a cultural highlight to the day’s agenda.

The symposium continues tomorrow, with sessions focusing on farm-level challenges and strategies to enhance feed efficiency. Participants are looking forward to another day of collaboration and learning to advance sustainable dairy practices.
