Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Shakal, Professor of Poultry Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, and Chairman of the Arab Regional Poultry Conference, announced that the Third Arab Regional Poultry Conference will be held in Hurghada from April 25-28. The event is organized in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), organizations affiliated with the Arab League, and the Union of Arab Universities.
Hundreds of experts and professors specializing in poultry production and processing from Egypt and many Arab and foreign countries will participate in the conference. The main goal is to develop a comprehensive advancement plan for the poultry industry in Egypt and the Arab world, addressing its challenges and working towards self-sufficiency and export opportunities.
Dr. Mohamed Shakal, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Poultry Forum, added that the conference management will dedicate specialized workshops focusing on challenges faced by each sector, including veterinary medicine, vaccines, feed production, parent stock farming, broiler production, and egg production. Proposed solutions will be discussed for the growth and development of each sector, with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture. The recommendations from these workshops will be presented in the conference’s final resolutions to benefit policymakers.
Dr. Shakal highlighted the success of the previous two editions of the conference, noting the increasing participation of experts, professors, and poultry industry producers from Egypt and the Arab world. The research, studies, and recommendations emerging from these workshops have reached numerous specialized Egyptian, Arab, and international institutions, increasing the interest of scientific organizations in participating in the upcoming edition. This, in turn, will contribute to achieving even greater success for the benefit of the industry and its workforce in Egypt and the Arab world.
Dr. Mohamed Shakal further emphasized the efforts and opportunities for Arab integration in poultry production and manufacturing to address the escalating challenges in recent years. He stressed the importance of revitalizing the industry to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance export potential, especially since this massive industry employs millions of Egyptians and Arabs. Poultry production is a key pillar of food security, providing affordable animal protein that is essential for human health and well-being. Furthermore, the success of this industry will yield significant economic benefits for Egypt and other Arab countries.
