Cairo: Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, met with Mahmoud Al-Anani, Chairman of the Board of the General Union of Poultry Producers, and Ahmed Nabil, Board Member and Head of the Table Eggs Division, to discuss the continuous monitoring of poultry market mechanisms and ensuring price stability.
The meeting also addressed what has recently been circulated on social media and in some media outlets regarding the rise in chick prices.
During the meeting, Farouk stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture places support for the poultry industry at the top of its priorities, affirming its permanent and ongoing support for the General Union of Poultry Producers as the main partner in this sector. He also emphasized full protection of the rights of small breeders and the removal of all obstacles they face to ensure their continued participation in the production system, in addition to encouraging poultry investments and providing production inputs to ensure the sustainability of the national industry.
For his part, Mahmoud Al-Anani affirmed his constant keenness to open direct channels of communication and his swift intervention to resolve problems facing producers, praising the cooperative spirit shown by the ministry to drive the wheel of production forward.
He also emphasized that what was raised in the media regarding the increase in chick prices involved a great deal of confusion, misunderstanding, and exaggeration in the circulated figures, which do not reflect the actual market reality or the true average prices at which major producers operate.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on joint coordination to increase the supply of poultry and poultry products in the markets during the coming period, along with intensifying early preparations for the holy month of Ramadan to ensure the availability of goods at fair prices. Emphasis was also placed on the need to monitor price balance in a way that achieves a fair profit margin for producers while taking into account the social dimension and the purchasing power of the Egyptian citizen.
