Authorities in Egypt's Monufia Governorate have intensified market inspections to protect subsidized goods and ensure food safety.
As part of an extensive enforcement campaign, officials seized 2.5 tonnes of subsidized flour that was allegedly intended for sale on the black market. The operation, carried out in Tala district, aims to prevent the misuse of government-subsidized commodities and ensure that support reaches eligible beneficiaries.

The confiscated flour was placed under legal custody, and authorities initiated legal proceedings against those involved. Officials stressed that preventing the illegal diversion of subsidized products remains a top priority to maintain market stability and protect consumers.
In parallel, the Veterinary Directorate conducted inspections at meat and poultry processing outlets across the governorate. The campaign resulted in the seizure of approximately 500 kg of meat and processed poultry products deemed unfit for human consumption.
The unsafe products were confiscated, and the violations were referred to the Public Prosecution as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and food quality.
Monufia Governor emphasized that inspection campaigns will continue to combat illegal trade, prevent market manipulation, and ensure compliance with food safety and subsidy regulations.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening market oversight, protecting consumers, and preserving the integrity of Egypt's food subsidy system.
