One reason why some cows cannot get pregnant may be because they have male (Y) chromosome fragments in their DNA, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) study.
Reproductive efficiency is the most economically important trait in cow-calf production. When a cow does not produce a calf, the producer does not make a profit, but still has to pay for feed, labor and other expenses.

Botulism, the sometimes deadly illness commonly associated with botched home-canning or other stored-food mishaps, has a new face. According to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) molecular biologist Robert M. Hnasko, botulism today is both a food safety and a homeland security concern because bioterrorists could—using the natural toxins that cause botulism—make everyday foods and beverages deadly. The nerve-damaging toxins, called neurotoxins, are produced by a common soil-dwelling bacterium, Clostridium botulinum, and several of its close relatives. 

Hnasko works for the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), USDA's chief intramural scientific research agency.

Studies by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) indicate the dust stirred up by wind and restless cattle at dairies does contain bacteria, fungi and small bacterial remnants such as endotoxins. But these potentially problematic particles are not found at high levels far beyond the barnyard.

VIV MEA management team has decided to postpone VIV MEA 2020 to August 31st – September 2nd, 2020 in Abu Dhabi due to the situation report #39 from the WHO published on February 28th in which the risk assessment for the regional level as well as the global level changed from high to very high. This decision has been taken after careful consideration and in the interest of exhibitors and visitors and, above all, to protect the health of all attendees.

The organizing committee of the 7th Mediterranean Poultry Summit of the WPSA has decided to postpone the summit of Cordoba 2020 to 7 – 9 October

Due to the latest news about the Corona Virus and the situation reported by the WHO (Report #39) on February 28th in which the global risk level changed from high to very high, the organization took the responsibility and acted on its rights to postpone the 7th Mediterranean Poultry Summit until October 7-9, 2020.

The 6^th International Agricultural Dairy Forum, a key event of the Russian dairy industry, has come to an end. Over the two days, the event was attended by more than 3,000 visitors from 33 countries; among them were 1,000 producers of dairy products, over 100 media representatives, and several dozens of exhibitors. In the margins of the Forum, the Action Plan for cooperation between the Moscow region and the Republic of Belarus was signed; a new enterprise of the OSP Agro agricultural holding company able to house 1,199 cows was opened, and 11 agreements worth approximately 11.5 billion rubles were concluded.
