استقرار قطاع الدواجن

The Ministry of Agriculture affirmed that the stability of the poultry sector, the availability of feed, and the abundance of red meat in Jordan constitute a fundamental pillar for ensuring national food security. This was stated by Assistant Secretary-General for Livestock, Misbah Al-Tarawneh, who explained that the sector is operating within safe production levels, with sufficient stocks of feed and meat available to meet the needs of the local market.

Stability of the Livestock Production System in the Kingdom
Al-Tarawneh pointed out that the stability of the livestock production system in the Kingdom is attributed to the development of the poultry sector, which is considered one of the most advanced sectors in the region. Its investments exceed 2.4 billion Jordanian dinars, reflecting its vital role in supporting food security and confirming the Kingdom’s ability to meet local demand.

Stability of the Poultry Sector, Feed Availability, and Abundance of Red Meat in Jordan
The Kingdom has achieved high levels of self-sufficiency, with self-sufficiency in poultry meat exceeding 80%, while self-sufficiency in table eggs has reached 100%. Monthly production amounts to approximately 33,000 tons of meat, in addition to the production of 40 million hatching eggs per month.

Feed Stocks and Their Role in Production Stability
Jordan possesses feed stocks sufficient for 110 days, and the Ministry is keen to ensure the availability of yellow corn and soybean meal. It also adopts strict specifications to guarantee quality, limiting the corn breakage rate to only 7% in order to preserve its nutritional value.

Stability of the Livestock Production System in the Kingdom Depends on Feed Quality
Al-Tarawneh noted that a high corn breakage rate increases feed consumption and raises the risks of fungal contamination. Therefore, the Ministry is working to reduce these risks through strict enforcement of specifications, ensuring price stability and production quality.

Import Volumes and Their Role in Market Balance
During 2025, the Kingdom imported approximately 650,000 tons of corn, in addition to 350,000 tons of soybean meal. Since the beginning of 2026, Jordan has received 123,000 tons of corn alongside 109,000 tons of soybean meal, with additional shipments expected to arrive soon.

Stability of the Poultry Sector, Feed Availability, and Abundance of Red Meat in Jordan Enhance Market Flexibility
Al-Tarawneh confirmed the availability of sufficient red meat stocks, noting that the Ministry is working to diversify import sources, which currently include 21 different origins. The Kingdom has also opened imports of veal from Egypt and added sheep and goat meat imports from Syria.

Ministry Measures to Ensure Price Stability
The Ministry monitors market conditions daily and continuously tracks stock levels while taking the necessary measures to ensure the availability of essential commodities. The Ministry also confirmed that food supplies are stable and that the available quantities are sufficient to meet citizens’ needs.
