With technical expertise seen as the key to increased production efficiency, more than 120 delegates from 25 countries in the Middle East and Africa and the Asia-Pacific regions attended the Cobb broiler seminar held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The two-day seminar brought together the two regions for the first time, attracting support from Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Kuwait, UAE and Oman.  The Asia-Pacific region saw representatives from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, Taiwan, China, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The seminar topics included biosecurity, lighting, health, brooding, environment and regional trends, with specialist speakers from the Cobb World Technical Support Team, Cobb Asia and Cobb Europe.

“The broiler industries from both our regions share a tremendous growth potential in the coming decade, but their success will depend on the ability to produce efficiently and keep chicken affordable for the consumer,” said Pelayo Casanovas, Cobb general manager in Asia-Pacific.

“Technical seminars like this, with the best Cobb specialists coming from all over the world, should contribute to helping our customers improve their production efficiency.”

During the event a graduation dinner took place when each participant was awarded a certificate of attendance in the presence of Cobb president Jerry Moye.

Participants were encouraged to network with each other in sharing ideas, and these are typical of the comments afterwards.

-  Mounir Bishay, Naif Poultry Company, Kuwait — “The seminar was a very informative and helpful event. It provided a good platform for all those taking part in many different ways, and the topics covered will help my company to do better business in the future. Congratulations for an amazing job and looking forward to more such events! “

-  A'saffa Foods, Oman – “Now we are entering a new growth phase on our existing project, your presentation was very timely. We hope to use your suggestions in all our day-to-day activities. The event gave us excellent technical support and confidence in Cobb breed.”

-  Wirat Wongpornpakdee, president of CP Livestock Myanmar — “The content was practical with easy-to-follow instructions — a good opportunity to learn and exchange knowledge of poultry management and business perspective in a different region.”

The event finished with an evening cruise along the Chao Praya River to take in the sights of Bangkok, followed the next day by a visit to the VIV Asia exhibition.
