The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) has added two new consultants in the Middle East and North Africa region this fall, increasing its presence in an area of the world with significant potential for future demand.
Shakeb Elahi joined the Council in September and will be working to expand the sales portfolio of U.S. exports to the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Pakistan. Elahi is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Preparations are nearing completion for the second edition of feed-to-food international business hub event VIV MEA, which takes place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, between 5th-7th February 2018. With expansion into an extra hall adding about 25% to its exhibition area and to the number of exhibitors, VIV MEA 2018 will offer an even wider range of products and services for animal protein providers from the Middle East and Africa to Iran and the countries of the Indian sub-continent.

In response to a marked increase in customer requests for in-feed analysis, AB Vista’s US laboratory team has relocated to larger facilities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, close to the AB Vista US regional office.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published a new scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of AVIMATRIX® (Novus International, Inc.) as a zootechnical feed additive. The authority has concluded that the inclusion of AVIMATRIX at 500 mg/kg complete feed has the potential to improve the performance of chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor avian species for fattening and to point of lay. It is considered to be tolerated by chickens for fattening and reared for laying up to the maximum recommended dose (1,000 mg/kg complete feed).

Roxell, the leading manufacturer in automatic feeding, drinking, heating and ventilation systems for poultry , is introducing two new types of feed bins, specifically for EU countries. The new types of feed bins comply with European standard EN 1090 for the manufacture of metal structures. The new bins break down into two groups.

Recently, Impex opened a new factory near Frankfurt, Germany, where it makes drinking nipples for poultry industry. The ultra modern production facility in Aulenhausen replaced the Neher factory which burned down in April 2014. With an investment of more than 20 million euros, Impex has now one of the most modern and sustainable production plants in the world.

The Lebanon branch of the WPSA held its annual meeting on October 12, 2017, at the Lancaster Hotel in Hazmieh, a suburb of Beirut, the capital. The meeting was held at the beginning of a two day conference sponsored by the Branch in cooperation with Elanco.

During the five-day exhibition Nutriad fully engaged with industry contacts, highlighted new and existing products and specifically promoted its range of dairy specific solutions.

The latest Cobb Champion award for broiler performance has gone to Chicken Kingdom company, located in Lipetsk, Russia, and part of Cherkizovo Group. The awards were introduced last year to recognise annual world-class performance at breeder, broiler and hatchery level in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

U.S.-based POET, the largest biofuels producer in the world has signed a partnership agreement with U.S.-based Al Dahra ACX, a subsidiary of Al Dahra Holding and a leader in the animal feed business for the marketing and distribution of “Dakota Gold”, the premium DDGS product (a corn based feed ingredient) produced by POET.

Dr Aldo Rossi, who has 25 years of poultry experience including 17 years with Cobb-Vantress, Inc., has been appointed vice president of research and development for the company.

More than 40 trainees took part in the first scientific workshop organized jointly by the Al Watania Poultry Institute of Technology (WIT) and Cobb-Vantress for the Saudi poultry industry.
