Thirty four delegates took part in the first Cobb seminar for the Myanmar Broiler Association in Myanmar (formerly Burma) in Southeast Asia, including professors from the veterinary university, staff from the livestock breeding and veterinary department, CP, advisers from JAPFA , Sun Jin, broiler farmers, breeder flock owners and feed producers.

The seminar focused on the importance of nutrition, biosecurity and management of male and female parent stock, with speakers including Dr Orly Fernandez, Cobb Asia technical service director, and Dr Steve Bolden, director of the Cobb World Technical Support Team.

“It is a real pleasure to work with USA Poultry and Egg Export Council in making these seminars a reality in Myanmar,” said Dr Bolden.  The participants showed enormous interest in growing the broiler industry in their country with a high-level understanding of their strengths, weaknesses and opportunities.

“Obviously, Myanmar will be a major growth site in Southeast Asia.  The challenge will be in developing an infrastructure for chick supply, farm construction, processing and refrigeration.  It will be exciting to play a part in helping Myanmar as its industry blossoms.“
